Planning, Engineering and Public WorksTel: (306) 786-1730 The Department of Planning, Engineering, and Public Works directs, controls and administers the efficient operation of the City relating to land use zoning and subdivision, site plan review, development permit approval, construction and maintenance of streets and roads, watermains, sewermains, storm sewers, water treatment and sewage treatment and associated capital projects in accordance with good engineering practices. The Department administers outside consultants and contractors who are hired by the City for planning studies relating to transportation and land use, as well as capital construction projects such as water and sewage treatment plants, water treatment and distribution, sidewalks, pavement, sewer and water utilities, storm drainage, traffic lights, garbage collection and landfill. Most of the services provided by the Department typically fall under the category of "essential services", whether of a maintenance nature such as snow removal and ice control, or larger projects such as water supply and treatment, water distribution, land development, sanitary and storm sewer collection, sewage treatment and transportation systems. The Planning, Engineering and Public Works department comprised of Public Works, WaterWorks and Engineering Services manages the following areas.
