1) Growth in Yorkton:
- In the past two years, Yorkton has shown a substantial growth in building construction levels; new construction values increased by almost $17.5million over 2007, for a total of $62,305,125, a new one year high
- The value of residential renovations, additions and alterations increased in 2007-2008 by 46.8% to $1,657,703, reflecting the investment by landowners in improving the quality of the existing housing stock
- Construction, information & cultural industries, professional, scientific & technical services, retail trade, manufacturing, educational, healthcare, and administrative sectors are the current strengths of Yorkton’s economy
- Mining and food processing are the emerging sectors of Yorkton (two canola crushing plants are under construction and will be producing Canola Oil as a food item, with long-term plans to also produce biodiesel fuel; a fertilizer mining operation is expected to be developed between Yorkton and Melville)

3) Telecommunication infrastructure:
- Yorkton is connected with Community Net, Saskatchewan’s public sector high-speed internet telecommunications network. Our schools, library and health centre have high-speed internet capabilities through Community Net. SaskTel, a crown corporation, provides services to the individuals and businesses to use phones (landlines and cell phones) and high-speed internet
- Access Communication, a private organization, also provides phone and high-speed internet services
4) Huge trading area:
- Three major shopping malls (Parkland Mall, Linden Square Mall, Flamingo Square Mall), five retail box stores (Wal-Mart, Canadian Tire, Superstore, Staples, The Brick) and numerous retail stores in Yorkton serve more than 100,000 of population within the radius of 150km
