Candidate Profiles
Jeanette Thomasson
I am a fifty-eight year-old female who has lived in Yorkton for about 20 years and surrounding area (farm – Canora) for 8½ yrs. So far, during my lifetime, I have faced many challenges and enjoyed many tremendous experiences. The greatest of these would be the birth of my two children and the excitement/experiences of being enriched by daily life spent with them . . . mostly in Yorkton.
My childhood years were spent in the metropolis of MOZART, Saskatchewan. My Icelandic Father encouraged me to get a good education. He helped to instill in me, a desire for knowledge and just the ‘Love of life and learning”. My formal Education includes:
- Bachelor of Social Work – Regina, SK, 2003
- Bachelor of Education – Saskatoon, SK 1981
- Theology Diploma – England, 1977
I would describe myself as being: ‘A survivor’, witty, loving, caring, passionate, well-spoken, pleasant, Fun-loving, articulate, determined, focused and ALIVE.
Some of my favorite parts of life would be: curling, gardening, cooking, drinking coffee and conversation with Friends, young people and children.
At the age of 53, I became legally blind I am still daily learning to ACCEPT WHAT I CAN’T CHANGE and BE GRATEFUL TO GOD AND MANY OTHERS FOR ALL THAT EACH DAY BRINGS FOR ME.
As CITY COUNCILLOR, I WOULD HOPE TO REPRESENT the city in a positive light and ATTEMPT TO BRING ABOUT changes to improve our lives and the lives of our future.
