The Province of Saskatchewan, through The Cities Act and, to a lesser extent, The Planning and Development Act, 2007 sets out the powers of municipal governments.

City Council has no powers regarding education, other than collecting taxes on behalf of the Public and Separate School Boards.

The Mayor is the Chief Executive Officer of the City.  The City Manager is the Chief Administrative Officer of the City and is in day-to-day charge of City operations and employees.

City Council meets every second Monday at 5:00 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall.  All decisions of Council are by majority vote.
